Tower Hamlets is a vibrant, culturally rich and diverse borough with a deep religious heritage. Muslim history here stretches back to the 19th century and the East London Mosque — one of the largest in Europe — is over 100 years old. Today, Tower Hamlets has one of the largest Muslim populations in the UK.
Our research has identified 47 mosques* across the borough, serving both worshippers and the wider community. With so many mosques within easy reach, worshippers can pray at a different mosque for each prayer if they wish.
Yet only a handful of mosques maintain a fully functioning website and fewer still publish an online prayer timetable. A clear need emerged for a single, central source of Jama’ah times across Tower Hamlets. Tower Hamlets Mosques (THM) was created to meet that need.
For now, THM focuses on Jama’ah times — the information that most people need day to day. In the near future, we intend to add community events, announcements, and a record of Muslim history in Tower Hamlets.
What makes THM useful

- Independent and impartial. THM is not affiliated with any mosque listed in this directory.
